I got out this afternoon and tried it just below Rocky Reach Dam. Watewr temp was 38, air temp in the mid-40s and winds were calm. I fished the Chelan Co. side after putting in just below the dam. I was jigging in the back eddies and on the drop offs. I tried a motor oil colorred 3" crawdad tipped with a crawler. I also tried a chartruse 4" curly tail tipped with crawler. No bites, bumps or nibbles. It was good to get out though and learn a little with my new fish finder.

Thanks for the report AFK. We tried these eddies a few weeks ago with the same results. We probably need some 40 degree water and it will pick up.

Do you gentleman get good smallmouth bites this early? I usually get the bass boat out in late March and April. Let me know, as I love that water around Wenatchee. I grew up in Quincy.

Hey Lundegard, thanks for the insight. I'm just learning about paying attention to water temp., barometric pressure, lunar phase and so on. I've always just fished when I had the chance. dreamflyfishing , I'm really not one to ask about smallmouth. Maybe somebody else can chime in.
