Sunday was my 3rd time on Roosevelt in the last month, and walleye fishing has been tough each time. My buddy and I launched out of Porcupine Bay and made a run up the river in the morning. We fished several spots on the way to Bouy 5. My buddy landed an 18" rainbow drop shotting in less than 10 feet and a 2.5 pound smallmouth with a jig tipped with a crawler on a ledge around 45 feet. These fish were healthy and fought well, but not what we were looking for.

In the afternoon, we fished several flats between Porcupine Bay and Fort Spokane. Boats were everywhere. A few small walleye were caught by boats around us, but it sounded like the bite was better early in the day before the boat traffic increased. I finally landed a 19" and a 16" walleye around 5 pm on a narrow point adjacent to the deep channel. My buddy got a dink that we threw back. All of these fish were taken between 25-35 feet of water with a green lead head with a 3" watermellon curly tail jig (tipped with an inch of crawler).

Water temp: 43 degrees. Wind: Light and variable. Weather: Mostly sunny around 55 degrees in the afternoon. Water: Almost no current. Water clarity ranged from 2 feet up the arm to 4-6 feet downstream from Porcupine Bay.
