Method:
• Trolled in Swawilla
o Started out first thing in the morning just flat lining K-Fly and dodger on one rod and the Rapala on the second rod
o Water had a little chop at first, then settled pretty flat

Varied speed from 1.5 – 3.0 mph

Catch Record: No hits, bites or fish

Additional Notes:
The only fish in the lake tried to jump in my boat as I was motoring out to the spot! A nice 2# silver jumped straight out of the water just as I was passing at about 30mph...just missing me by 3-4 feet! It makes me wonder how big the fish chasing it was....

mav, were you marking any schools of them on the sonar? Planning on trying it myself later this week, but your report is not too encouraging. Did you try anything deeper than long lining?

Flat water surface = planer boards.

Hey Crusty: I had marked several schools that day...periodically. The ones I marked were out over deeper waters. In my experience, this has NOT been a typical year for me and the silvers. I talked to a few guys on Wed the 14th and they had caught a couple of fish each...but it took them most of the day. It got worse from there into the weekend. Good luck and have fun!

Lund: You know Gordy Stienmetz recommended to my wife, to get me a pair of those for Christmas one year...I think I'll be breaking them out of the package next time and give them a try!

Crusty: I forgot one of your questions...yes I started out on the surface varied my depth up to 20'.

Tough break Steve, but at least your weekend wasn't a bust with the RW fish. We're meeting up with some folks from the west side 4/30 and 5/1, so I hope things pick up a bit by then. I have no luck on Roosevelt silvers, at least not yet. I need to dedicate more time to fishing for them I suppose. Thanks for the report.

Silvers in Lake Roosevelt are kokanee, which are actually landlocked sockeye, not coho...

Skillet: Thanks for the clarification...be easier for me if we had a 'silver' category for the reports! ha
