6/6/2010 3:31:00 AMNice Kokes! I'm heading up there next Friday for Walleye. I am fishing out of Fort Spokake. From your picture, it looks like your off the slide area outside the mouth of the Spokane River. I have never fished for the Kokes. Are you using any wedding rings and maggots or white corn behind pop gear or small dodgers??. I'd like to get my electric downriggers into the action.

Sounds like you had a great time despite the weather conditions. Can't wait to see your trip video! Couple questions - were the leaded lines also off the downriggers or used without? How far back? What areas seemed to be most productive? Thanks! :-)

6/6/2010 3:01:00 PMHewesfisher- The leaded lines were without the downrigger. They were about 3 1/2 to 5 colors out. Swalila Bay and the shore line down to Spring Canyon were the most productive. I like to fish the cliffs that drop down into the main channel of the lake. We have had success all the way up the lake past the Sanpoil using this technique. Some times they are off the deep side into the main channel and some times they are on top of the flats.
Elk- We are using a spinner that we make up that is similar to a wedding ring. We use different blades and blade colors from pink, silver, blue and purple and we use different color beads like green, red, pink, blue and clear. All the colors seem to work but blue and pink seemed to get the most time in the water. Also we use a variety of small flashers. A lot of the time no flasher and just a small spinner works the best off the downrigger. This past weekend the bows were hitting the wooly buggers and the koks were hitting the spinners and even a 4 inch orange rappala. The spinners we tip with white shoe peg corn or plastic maggots. You can run a double whammy hook set up or just a single hook. We tried some other things and had some success as well like a squid and a kok a nut.
Are the big walleye biting yet? We didn't have time to go after them but we will next time....

Just a slower presentation and probably a lot of searching. Thanks for the info. It sounds as if you were a lot farther down the lake than the confluence. Do you know if they fish or catch any Kokes near the confluence???
