It was a great day mostly at the Pateros rocks for Andy with the Garland crew. They brought 14 fish to the boat. They got 4 keepers. The remainder were wild steelhead and one big (unfortunately untagged) triploid rainbow escapee from Rufus. They fished mostly 1/8th and 1/4 ounce jigs in pink, red and orange. By far the best producer was Worden Lures new Maxi Jig in the 1/8th ounce in the Calypso pattern. These jigs were baited with a chunk of regular WalMart cooked shrimp cured with Red Pautzke's Fire Cure. As always jig depth (as determined by the bobber stop) and slack management were the keys to success. Depths varied from 5 feet to almost 30 feet. The "froggier" the water, the deeper you need to go. Tight Lines

We have friends in Pateros and are planning a visit sometime soon. We were thinking of trying to fish from the shoreline in Pateros. Is shore fishing worth trying there?

Great fish. What is the significance of tagged Rufus Woods fish? Thanks

Hi guys: The regs had required release of all non-adipose clipped fish as wild steelhead. Triploids from Rufus do not get clipped. However, they did start to floy tag them this year. They changed changed the steelhead regs this year to allow you to keep a floy-tagged fish with an adipose. These are Rufus Triploids. And they taste great!

I had noticed a lot of guys fishing from the docks right there in Pateros early in the year. We are normally in and out at the launch so I don't check to see what kind of success they have. Sorry. Anton
