Slow day fishing the Arm. We launched out of Porcupine at 0800 and headed up river. Our first stop was at the mouth of the narrows on the right side. Fished in 25' to 60' of water with jigs, no luck. Moved to the edge of the flat on the left side near the EWU buoy in the middle of the river. Again fished from 25' to 80' of water with jigs. My buddy picked up one dink in about 60' and I nailed a 31in 10# walleye in 75' of water. Slowly brought her up, didn't have much choice really. My buddy forgot his net so it was interesting getting her in the boat. Her swim bladder was trying to exit through her mouth, I didn't have a needle and wasn't sure fizzing is all that good for a fish anyway. Put her in the livewell for about 15 minutes to help her recover then put her back in the river and watched her head for the depths. She appeared to have no problem going back down. We stayed in the area for awhile just to make sure she didn't come back up. Interestingly she had a crawfish sticking out of her gullet. Leads me to believe she is coming up shallow at night to feed. Headed up river to buoy five where we picked up three more dinks and a small burbot. Shallowest fish caught was from 50' of water. Water temp in porcupine was still 62 deg, water near buoy 5 was 58 deg. Called it by 1400. Fishing was slow but it was a gorgeous day, not going to have many more of those this year.

I'm sure it was still swimming upside down and sideways in your live well even after 15 minutes. I wouldn't think twice about fizzing that girl after all that. She may swim away but I believe it questionable if she's alright. At least if she's fizzed she'll be swimming right side up. My 2 cents. Great job and thanks for the report.
