The lake is full of logs and empty of fish! Ok. Maybe not empty of fish, but no person I met was having any luck either. There is so much wood that it is hard to maneuver a boat. There are logs two to three feet across that are beneath the surface, and you can't see them untill you are on them. I marked a few fish but didn't catch any. It was a beautiful day on the water anyway, with great weather. I tried at the mouth of the Spokane and went all the way up to Hunters. I used an HDS7 with lss-1 to mark fish. I looked everywhere I have seen them in the past, as well as likely spots, and saw very few. Maybe I should have gone up the Spokane looking for them but not fishing?

I am confused on the reg book this year, as to located the guidelines for the Spokane arm. In the past it has always opened the friday before memorial day. Is it the same this year?

Have to agree with steven the fishing has been very bad no bites fished for trout and walleyes only one good bite and we were so surprised and shocked that we missed the opertunity to set the hook. logs and junk al over in the water like usual for this time of year. we noticed when we were buckling the boat down that a stick was between the bunk board and the boat so we had to back back down to the water to remove it. on the good side we got to see a lot of bald eagles.

I think you are wrong about that. I fish it every year and as long as I can remember it has always opened June 1. Better check those regs again.

The opening date in the regs is and always has been June 1...this year, I think because the Spokanes ignored the closure completely, they are opening on the 25th of June. Look at the updates for the Spokane River at the WDFW site.

The rules for the Spokane River are listed under Eastside Rivers - Special Rules section of the regs pamphlet where they have been listed for several years now. The Spokane River where it meets Lake Roosevelt (commonly called the Spokane Arm) is CLOSED to WALLEYE fishing from April 1st to May 31. The Spokane Arm is defined as "the mouth at the SR 25 bridge to 400' downstream of Little Falls Dam". The arm is open year round for TROUT, KOKANEE, Other game fish, or SALMON per the 2012/2013 regs pamphlet, pg 81.

Augwen - If you have a link to the emergency rule change, please post it. As of this morning, this is what is on the WDFW Emergency Rule Changes for the Spokane River, "Emergency rules currently in effect for Spokane River (Spokane County) - There are no emergency fishing rules currently in effect for Spokane River (Spokane County). Please refer to the current Fishing in Washington Sport Fishing Rules Pamphlet. "

Current rules pamphlet clearly states the arm will reopen to Walleye June 1st.
