I was out today as well, and could almost copy and paste packernuts story word for word, except that we had my grandpas friend along as well.

we caught one fish for the three guys in the boat.

one group did really well near us trolling a 2oz bottom walker weight with just a single green bead and slow death hook 20' back crawler for bait. the slow death hook provides a tumble and that's all the action they used. as a fly fishermen it makes me think a leach imitation might also work. they got limits. trolling the same area we were dragging jigs.and we used probably 15+ different color and size combinations.

the jiggers who did catch fish were the ones covering the most water as well. i did my best to emulate it, but i do most of my walleye fishing in places where im trying to hold on an exact spot.

WDFW isn't our enemy. Without them, we'd have no fishing or hunting opportunities left in our state. What do they have to gain by destroying the walleye population? There are far more fisherman targeting warm water species than trout in Lake Roosevelt. The lake is overpopulated, and as a result, the quality (size) of the walleye are suffering. The same can be said of the smallmouth bass. If you've been fishing this lake for 10-15 years or more, as I have, think back to those days. The fish were just as easy to come by, but the number of 18" to 24" walleye was much higher. These guys know what they're doing, we need to trust and support them.
