Got to the lake about 7am had stopped to buy bait at the tackle store near Salkum and found I had no net. Left it in the garage back home. Bought a $4 one to get by. The fiesty fish would be easier to land with my long handled one but this short one would do. Normally I would stay away from popular water on a Holiday weekend but this clowdy morning left the party boaters and campers ashore. No crowds at the launch and plenty of room to park. With a wedding ring and worm started trolling just clear of the launch area and was surprised by a hard hitting 15" rainbow lass than 5 min. later. Had a second fish 10 min. later. Then fish hit and miss for about 45 min. I finally realized after catching many fish this season, it was time to use a new hook on this Lucky lure or at least sharpen it, which I did. Then when the next fish hit I had no problem hooking and landing them. I troll fast and leave my drag loose and on the clicker and when the reel screams the fight is on. This works for me. Don't forget to use sharp hooks. Not a single squaw fish to feed the Osprey today just fun fighting trout. Good luck to all DH.
