Trip 4 for the year in search of kokes in the lower reservoir. Thus far have limited on trout each trip and 5 kokes total to date. Been spending most of my time mid-channel looking for kokes, pulling flies, rapalas, apexs and spinners in all colors with orange and purple and of course my brides color coordinated lures being the most productive for kokes. She likes the flashy purps and matches everything from flasher/dodger to the lure. These fish are full of plankton, have excellent color inside and out. While the trout fishing keeps things fun and busy even catching 1 koke makes the trip....Columbia River Candy!

Ones was 2.9 and the other 3,2. I'll head back after the cold spell, no fun having to put your rod in the water to clear the eyes of ice and such..... I'm a bit puzzled about the kok numbers this year...they seem to be spread out and low in terms of density. But like I said, bringing one home for a dinner makes it worth it and the rbt are both great for bbq and smoking. I bet downriggeral has a traeger pellet bbq, they are great for cooking rbt and kokes, but the kokes from Roosevelt are bar-nun!

Nice solid fish......hopefully they start to show up in bigger numbers because we have also struggled to find them. In fact we haven't found a big one yet this winter in a couple trips up. They are excellent eating.....!

It's a big river and helps to share hot spots which seem to be changing from year to year and day to day. I think kokes are really sensitive to the reservoir op's, rbt too but darn those kokes are hard to find now. Perhaps a couple weak year classes or hopefully it'll turn on soon. As soon as this cold snap is over and the roads are clear I'll be going.
