Launched out of Spring Canyon and started trolling towards Plum Point this morning starting about 9:00. Standard set up for us being two rods on downriggers. One had a pink Kekeda fly and the other an Orange. About 3/4 of the way down we get a fish on the pink fly. My nephew starts reeling in and we see it had spit the hook... well as we keep reeling we realize it had broken off the leader. Not a problem, I obviously have plenty of flies being the guy that ties them. WRONG!! I didn't have another pink fly in the box. So I rigged up a chartreuse and orange fly that I've had luck with in the past. We get one more bump along that stretch and decide to head over to Swawilla. We start our trolling pass and come to one of the draws that heads down into the water and pick up a fish... then another right away. We ended up making a tight little circle over about 100' of water and caught 5 fish. We had to call it a day earlier than usual and wish we could have found the fish sooner. We had at least as many hits as we did fish. Fish were caught on Kekeda flies orange and chartreuse/orange on the downrigger at 12' and 17' over deeper water trolling at 2.3 to 2.6 mph. Gorgeous day on Roosevelt.

Kekeda flies work really well all through the summer catching these big Rainbows and we'll pick up the occasional Kokanee too. Please visit my website below and place an order. When you post on WA Lakes using Kekeda flies you're name will be entered for a monthly drawing for 5 free flies of your color choice shipped to your door.

Kekeda Tackle Co. is a local company offering high quality trolling flies. The perfect trolling fly for waters around the Pacific Northwest. Offered in a variety of colors at reasonable prices.

Did you get bothered with the small net pen fish much? I was up to the goat farm for a couple hours with a friend and had several dinks on. However we did pick up one 16" Kok 40' down on the pink hootchie. Thanks for the report.

We didn't see any of the little ones this time out. We felt pretty fortunate not to deal with them. They always make it hard to tell when a fish is on and they never seem to pull from the clip. Hate to admit it but we've had a few that went for a ride for who knows how long. Nice job on the Kok, always fun to put something like that in the boat.

Thanks for the report Dave. What no more pink flies in the box? That's always the way it works.....loose the one that is really catching fish. Of course you don't loose the ones that aren't catching fish! Did you try the Perch Kekeda?

Nice report Dave and good looking 'bows too! We'll be up this weekend, and should I be able to get away from "chores", we'll put some time on the water. :-)

Didn't get a chance to try out a perch fly, we were catching enough on the other colors. I won't make that mistake again. I made sure there were flies ready on my work bench the next time I head out. Good luck this weekend Phil, I hope you get to sneak away for a little bit.
