Lines in the water at 7:11am and our two per person kokanee limit in the cooler just before 9am. My buddy caught a couple nice 16" RBTs in addition to his 2 kokanee and I caught a 17" walleye to compliment my kokanee limit. Best koke yesterday was 17', 2lbs 3ozs caught by my buddy.

Not expecting such fast action, we realized we didn't bring anything to chase other species. We changed gear and dragged some deep diving crankbaits for a few hours, but only managed a half dozen SMB not worth keeping before calling it a day and heading back to the ramp.

Trolling speeds were 1.3 - 1.5mph, depth 55', pink Apex tipped with Gulp maggots and a P-Line pink hootchie with corn. Both my kokanee came on an Apex as did the walleye (very surprised). My buddy caught one kokanee on a pink Apex and one on the pink hootchie. Don't recall what he was using when he hooked the RBTs.

Beautiful day yesterday and nice mild temps. :-)

Hi Phil, sounds like you have dialed in the native Kokes. Spring Canyon launch? Great day to be on the water. Always enjoy your reports.

Glad to see you have some time to fish Phil. Dandy fish, thanks for the report.

Looks like Swallila Basin to me! Interesting about the Walleye caught on an Apex as last month, I caught one in Banks lake trolling an Apex for trout! Nice Kokanee!

I can tell you this much, I was nowhere near Spring Canyon or Swawilla. I always launch at Seven Bays because we keep our boat there. There is a clear clue to the general area in the picture behind the boat, but is not where we were fishing. ;-)

Last time out for about a month Alan, time for some extensive PM on my main plus a reed upgrade to replace the factory SS ones. No need to tempt fate with those. A full set of TDR carbon fiber reeds will be hand massaged for my motor (and fuel system work too) by the Merc Guru. Transit time round trip to the souteast coast plus 10 days at the shop, so figure at least 3 weeks before they get back to me. Reassemble, oil pump prime sequence by local Merc dealer will be another week, then back to Seven Bays in time fall fishing. :-)

Never have understood why people are so guarded about their fishing. Lots of fish in Roosevelt. Siliness.

To each their own. I have always been very open with where and how I fish, but have found more and more people showing up in places I used to enjoy without competition. You are absolutely right, there ARE lots of fish in Roosevelt, go find them without me telling you where I fish. I choose to keep some spots to myself or a select group of people I trust. Silly for anyone to think they're entitled to that info. :-/

I understand the impact of posting some select fisheries on the internet. I don't feel "entitled" to any information. I also like to help my fellow fishermen along the way where I can. It's us against the fish, after all! Posting pictures of fish with a different area's background is just... well, it is what it is. I've learned a lot along the way on my own (been fishing for 40 yrs.) but certainly have a lot of gratitude for those that have shared their knowledge with me along the way. I guess I may never fully understand the secrecy. Just my two cents.

Me - 88 reports posted, 73 for Roosevelt. You - 8, 3 for Roosevelt.

Until last year I provided everything except GPS coordinates to my actual "on the water" position. About a year ago I started withholding small tidbits of info, something I will continue to do. IMHO anyone wants to know more than what I've posted over the years for Roosevelt needs to find a new sport. I still share specific details just not in public anymore.

Oh, and just for your edification, the picture WAS in the area we were fishing, facing the opposite direction. Anyone who fishes that area would know and recognize the distinctive geological formation, Whitestone, directly to the rear which is, roughly, 30 miles away from Spring Canyon and Swawilla. Do a 180 and that's "roughly" where we were fishing. That's all I'm saying as to location.

Sorry this turned into a disagreement. Didn't intend it to, just voicing an opinion. You do share a lot of good information, and you're FAR from the other extreme tight lipped folk I've encountered over the years. I also wasn't "fishing" for information. I've done very well this year just outside the mouth of the 7 Bays marina in 100 FOW working North. You're welcome to hit that too, if you'd like. You may already be aware... Hope I didn't cause any bad blood, not my intent.
