I am sure glad we didn't listen to the weather man and decided to fish Keller in spite of a gloomy forecast. The quality of Lake Roosevelt's Kokanee is hard to overlook. Andrew and Ron heartily agree. They drove up from the Tri- Cities to join me, and I am sure glad they did. The majority of these fish are 17-18" with some running as large as 24". After last winters poor koke season its a welcome relief to put some large Kokanee in the boat. Even if it is just 2 wilds per person.

We ran 6 rods all day. 2 on planer boards, 2 on downriggers, and 2 straight out the back. Baits were fished between 5-16' at the usual 1.7 mph. Setbacks were 40-100". By using 6 rods were were able to try a variety of baits and managed to get action on just about everything. Corn seems to be a must but works better with scent. Started with three flavors and quickly found the flavor of the day. Best bite came between 8 and noon and died at 2 when the lake went calm.

Largest koke was 18.5" and the rainbows were smaller running up to 17" We had a fun day just poking around the lake enjoying the beautiful scenery catching quality fish.

Now till the end of Feburary I am running a Lake Roosevelt Special. $300. Feel free to contact me for details. Come join me and leave all the preparations and hassles to me.

Nice catch Dave; is the $300 special for the whole boat?

Thanks for the report. I have never been on Lake Roosevelt but am loading up the camper and heading that way for a little exploring today. I am leaving my boat home for this trip but will bring a few poles in hopes of catching a Trout or Burbot from the bank. If anyone has some ideas for that it would be appreciated.
I have your number and will give you a call when I am in the area to see if I can share a trip. I can't buy the whole boat but if you have an opening with at least one other I would be up for it. I would do 2 days if 1 was for Burbot.

Nice Kokanee! Anyone ever accuse you of being Jim Belushi? I see a slight resemblance.
