I'm loving this spring weather, and what a better place to enjoy it than at Lake Roosevelt fishing Kokanee.

The koke bite was hot and heavy this morning. We managed to pull our limit rather quickly. Some of our fish were caught a little deeper today. Our last fish was caught on the down rigger at 35'. Literally, somebody's fish and gear was caught on the downrigger ball at 35' If anybody broke off a 50/50 dodger and a red wedding ring on a really big koke you should know your gear won't go to waste. I will put it to good use. The fish somehow managed to wrap the gear up in my downrigger. You should also know that the fish was extremely large (possibly a state record, no make that a world record), and because we already had our koke limit we were forced to release this fish. Sorry for your loss and congratulations on such an excellent fish. I tried to determine what flavor of corn was used on this lost rig, but the fish refused to exhale.

Time will tell, but i think this warmer weather and water will start to drive the fish deeper in the next couple of weeks. We still hit fish on the surface rod, but landed several fish on the downriggers between 25-40'.

I really enjoy seeing/hearing people reactions when they see these Kokanee for the first time. These fish are gorgeous and are truly a trophy fish this year. I hope more of you are able to join me in search of Lake Roosevelt Silver.

Thanks guys and great to have you on the boat wetworker57. For the record I must admit I exaggerated the size of the fish that tangled up in my rigger. It wasn't world class but I imagine it could be a state record in Florida.
