Day 2- so now it was the time to take everything we learned from Capt. Dave and put it to the test! We set our alarms for 4 am and after some strong coffee set on the road again to Lake Roosevelt for another chance to enjoy this world class fishery! Met Steve at the launch as he was just putting in too so we shared planned to stay in touch to see how each other were doing.

We started our first troll with both the down riggers 50 feet back and at 15 feet and a long line out the back at 120 feet with an ounce and a quarter of lead. As we were coming up on our first run one of the down riggers pops and Craig has one on but this one wasn't awake yet as he just came in sort of like a rainbow. As i was getting the net ready I saw it was another huge kokanee and it saw the boat and bolted under it right into my prop! Darn I hate losing fish but oh well, rigged up again and started trolling out towards the dam.

Dave called to see how we were doing and gave us a couple more helpful hints and before long we get another take down!! Talk about the guide that keeps on giving! Yea baby this ones on good and after a couple runs starts to come in so I grab the net but look down and the other rod pops off and now its a double!!! Holy moly all hell breaks loose as we try to these 2 brutes landed with 1 net! Craig's comes in first so I am able to swoop it up while still fighting mine and I dump it into the boat and hand the net to Craig and he nets mine! Yeehaw!!!

We get rigged up and start motoring back when we get our 3rd one and now we're talking about an early limit! Oops! Shouldn't have said that because wouldn't you know it, things go cold and we are scratching our heads trying to figure out where they went. As we were passing the boat launch at around 11:30 I grabbed the set up I used with my brother in law Tim a few weeks back and put that on the long line. We were passing between 2 white bouy's when the back rods starts bucking and a huge fish breaks the surface and starts peeling line! "it's a screamer"!!!! this fish reels off 225 feet of line and I'm beggining to think I have hooked one of the chains of the bouy but notice we have put the motor in idle and not moving but the fish still was! Finally started to gain on it and got it into the net for our before noon limit!!! What a hawg!

Got back to Park lake to take some photos and to clean and fillet them at the cleaning station at the resort. While we were there a lady and her husband were cleaning some perch told us about how Banks lake is kicking out some walleye around Steamboat rock- turns out she works for Lance at Mack lures and actually ties up a lot of the new spin drift rigs with the slow death hooks! Hmm the day was still young so we made an executive decision to head back up to Banks for some afternoon walleye fishing! Report to follow!
