What was I thinking? Going out on Lake Sammamish during the hottest day of the year on a weekend day?? Almost got seasick from the amount of rollers caused by ski boats.

Fishing was still good, although slower than days past due to the change in weather or most likely the number of boats. In the water at 7:45am and had two limits by 11:30am and than got out of there before the rest of the armada of ski boats. All fish were released with the exception of one that was hooked in the gills so we kept it as it wouldn't have made it.

Same setup, red and green wedding rings with green dodgers tipped with a worm and dipped in Ansi/Krill. The fish were much larger than past few weeks all 16 - 21". I tried troller faster with the downrigger which I saw in some reports, 2.25 - 2.75mph.

Fished in two spots, first by the weather buoy, pretty slow. Next was up North which was much better. Downriggers were set at 28' with about 50 feet of line out behind them.

Tight lines!

Great report! So you trolled at 2.25 - 2.75 mph?
I trolled a bit slower at 1.5-1.7 - We were happy but had less action than you. The key being my grandson was ecstatic reeling in 5 fish! Granted - two were perch but he did not care! I think I hooked him on fishing.

Yeah, the faster troll appears to entice the bigger ones. I had one perch as well, not sure how long I dragged him around.

Great for your grandson!

I trolled at 2.6 with spoons and spinners on both DR and leadline. Much more action and the hits were definitely harder. I had action slower, but some perch, but none at the faster speed on the spoons. You can catch them at either speed.

Very interesting. I am going out tomorrow and will try out the higher speeds. Thanks.
