Friend Bill wanted to see if we could catch some walleye. We wanted to go to Fort Spokane and launch but based on reports from other friends decided not to go there because of Fourth Of July weekend overload. Launched at Kettle Falls around 9:00 without problems even though it was busy with sturgeon fishermen. Headed up stream to the area above the bridge and had to slow down to get through the sturgeon fishermen who were anchored up chasing prehistoric monstas.

Tried jigging for a while with no love and then bottom bouncing with no fish for the effort either. I did pick up another line that a fishermen had broken off and low and behold there was a small walleye on the spinner rig. Released the walleye to swim another day and put the rig on my pole after breaking off the favorite one. Finally moved downstream to the mouth of the Colville area and caught four walleyes releasing two to let them grow. Bill had a tough day and just couldn't get the skunk off his pole.

All in all a great day to be on the water even though there was some floating wood to dodge and the wind blew up white caps in the afternoon. Did I mention the temp? It was a top up day for sure to get some shade from the scorching sun and temps in the high 90's.

Some have asked about the iTroll with electric remote controlled steering for the kicker. I have included a picture of the steering all installed on a 9.9 Yamaha.

Al,
Sounds like you had a good time dodging the sturgeon hunters and as a bonus you acquired a new spinner.

My buddy and I did launch out of Ft. Spokane on Saturday at 0500, only 1 parking spot which we snagged, and headed upriver towards Porky. We fished around a few emerging weedbeds with jigs and picked up a few small eyes. We did most of our damage trolling slow death rigs and even caught a few on deep diving crankbaits. Our total was 50-60 but we only kept 8 so that should tell you about the size we were catching. I hope your summer turns out to be excellent.

Thanks for the report Mark. Should be able to launch at Ft Spokane now that the holiday is over. Hard to imagine you got the last spot at 5 AM must have been a lot of overnighters. Alan
