Met up with AMX and started fishing at a little after 6AM. He started off the gate going right. I went left.

Sun is still behind the trees. Water smooth and calm. Topwater it is. After 1.5 hours in, I was starting to feel the skunk bug coming.... Gave up on topwater and have been using a swimbait, crank and DS. Had a few nibbles, but they were tiny.

Then finally I caught something. I was afraid it would be the only thing I catch. A little clump of lilies. BAh.

Persistence pays off and I finally hooked into a fish. Managed to skin hook a tiny perch on it's belly. Yep, gonna be that kind of day.

As I'm working the pads, I hear a splash against the rock where you can see the dried up sticks looking thing back there. Tossed the worm in and instantly get a bite. Set the hook and get this monster.....blue gill? Looks kind of like a dark pumpkinseed. Anyways, finally a hook in the mouth.

Continue working down and catch 2 dink SMB on the DS. Getting near the back end of the lake and I see AMX getting closer. Manage to get another dink SMB near the back. Size ranged from 6-8". Whoppers.

It sounds like AMX had a similar outing. Looped around and working my way towards the launch. Marked some fish in 39' of water. Used the DS with no nibbles.

Got to a section I wanted to fish quickly, but no action there either. Called it quits at 10AM, getting a little toasty. At least no skunk..... I guess.

Dead reeds. HaHaHa Yup, a few along there, but nothing for me back in them. No bites on topwater, couple nibbles on the worm. Only producer, that got into the boat, was the dropshot. Too hot, I had to go home quickly. Tomorrow is another day, and lake. :-)
