8/21/2017 8:18:37 AMDJ.... Do you do any research on what's actually happening? Do you know how to look at past years data that show not many fish come in right now? Have you actually called the tribal netting hotline or looked at the the LOAF for Baker Sockeye? Do you even know what the LOAF is? Have you seen them netting sockeye right now? Do you know that Baker sockeye stray and go up past the Baker sometimes?

" Hey man. Not trying to bust your balls on the post. Just saying i've fished the Cascade for 15 years. Unless you get an aggressive biter on eggs or sometimes jigs, where they swallow the hook and you get more meat on the hook......... they're flossed or snagged. Not intentionally or anything, but that's just what happens. Those fish are some of the hardest fighting kings you'll ever find anywhere. In those situations, a 50% landing ratio is the absolute best you'll see with 25% being normal. I used to step up to 40# braid with 25# leaders and 2/0-3/0 hooks.
That lowest hole next to the log is the best, but don't be afraid to fish the tailout of that run below the bridge above the hatchery. That thing used to pump out tons of fish back in the day.
All that being said, try not to post too much about the skagit and cascade up there. As you've seen, there's not many really good holes so a couple people can ruin your day of fishing. Word of mouth gets enough people up there. It doesn't need the internet letting people know about it too.
