Fished Potholes for the first time in months. Tried trolling slow death, flicker shads, spinners, etc., but the walleye weren't having any of it. I did manage to catch a trout, blue gills, crappie, and bass, but not walleye. As I trolled across a sunken hill the water went from 30-8' and one of the rods bent over and I thought it was a decent fish as I could feel it tugging back. Reeled it up and it turned out to be a old pull tab Olympia beer can. Can was made of metal and rusted through and filled with mud. Because it dragged across the bottom it felt like a fish as the can bounced and caught the sandy bottom. That old can sure put up a good fight.
Will give it another try in a week or so, hopefully the walleye will co-operate.

Good report, I have to love it!
I'm going to try Moses tomorrow. Understand there are some decent crappie being caught near the I-90 bridge. I need fish in the freezer.
Enjoy fall fishing.

If your going to try it again in a week or so, change your location up a little. I suggest trolling near the cooler line at the local grocery store. Troll with cheese and summer sausage, on a single bladed opener, sometimes called a church key. On a good day you can limit out on 16 ouncers, with a few 24 ozers mixed in. LOL

I caught a tin Schmidts can out of Deer Lake. Rusted out and half full of mud, yes it did fight pretty good!

What's the water level like?

Still low, but rising. Boat launches are shallow and steep at state park. Sand dunes are barely under water so be careful and rocks by the island are shallow, watch those outboards.

Good fight from an Oly can? You should try for some of our big chunks of cedar bark we get over here on the Westside lakes! They put up quite a battle, I'm here to say!
