It's that time of year again! Two of us caught 5 adults and one jack this morning with tuna from the bank. Best bite is 4-6am. Fished for two hours.

Also released a coho (about 10lbs) and a steelhead.

Fish quality is mixed, though we have gotten a few super bright fish. All still have firm meat. People question the quality; we are here to catch fish all night, not looking for a top quality salmon dinner.

Superbaits with a bit of weight near the dam is the ticket.

Watch the changing water levels. Seems like when they drop the water (generally in the early morning or late evening), the fish bit dies down substantially.

So far, 20 fish kept in four trips for two people since September 20th. Several dark fish, coho and steelhead released.

Fun times!!!!

Best of luck out there!

What is your setup for bank fishing? I usually troll around crab creek but am always looking for new ways to fish for salmon. Are you casting superbaits stuffed with tuna? Any info would be great. Thanks.

Sorry for the late response (a bit too late now). Sandy Hallow, mostly. Super baits or spoons worked really well (mainly spoons in the windy weather and super baits when the wind and current were calm). Just tie them on with a bit of scent or tuna and hold on!

That's outstanding! Thanks for the report. Were you fishing at Sand Hollow or near the Cove? Thanks!
