Once again, headed down to Lake Sammamish for some cutthroat trout fishing. Arrived at the boat launch with several other trailers in the parking lot on a beautiful day. Two to three mph winds and partly cloudy with no rain throughout the day. We started fishing about 10 am from the boat launch heading out towards the weather buoy. Within 15 minutes we had one 14"er and another strike. That was it for quite awhile. We caught one other small cutthroat but nothing else until about 2 pm. We then found some birds and, voila, a double. That gave us four in four hours which for us is a normal day, about one an hour. We caught two more in the last hour and a half giving us 6 fish for 5 and a half hours of fishing. All in all an average day on Lake Sammamish. The birds were not as prevalent as 2 weeks ago, so the hatch is probably about over. Some say that that the next month or two is the spawning time of year for these fish and we saw no large or dark fish caught. We seem to have our best luck fishing at 20 feet deep or less and this time around the fish seemed not to be congregated in any particular spot. We released all fish caught so we can catch them again next year. We left the fish no name or phone number so they will not know next year not to bite our lures again. Overall, a great day to be out in mother nature enjoying some catch and release fishing.

Catching and then safely releasing the "native" Cutthroat trout from Lake Sammamish as you are doing will ensure this fishery will be around in future years for all to enjoy. You are to be saluted as a true sportsman. Its a culture that hopefully will be embraced by more and more fishermen in an effort to protect this precious fishery.

Good report. The C&R part is good although maybe you could give them the phone number for my lure! Tight lines.
