Saw that Rattlesnake Lake got a plant of Bow’s so I headed out after work on Wednesday as the weather looked ok. Got there a little after 4pm and I only saw one boat out on the lake.

Was on the water about 4:30 after I educated some young men about the lake rules who were bait Fishing at the launch.

A North wind was starting to really pick up as I headed towards the far side of the lake to the calm water even though I wanted to fish around the launch area. Trolled varies crankbaits and a few spoons the whole time. I also stopped and threw out a TM Bobber set up up against the edge. Nothing.

I headed down the lake towards the building with the wind doing the work for me and and made the turn to row back the the launch as the wind was now really picking up. I was trolling a crankbait on the way back but the wind was making it very hard to stay away from the shore line let alone make up ground to get back to the launch. I even hit a stump with my oar which made me really go all out to get further away from the shoreline so I did not snag up on all those stumps.

I finally had a strike and had the fish on, but there was nothing I could do since I had to keep rowing in order to not be blow in the the shoreline. The fish came off and based on the strike and the shaking of my rod, I would say it was no bigger than 10”.

Finally made it back to the launch area which was slightly sheltered with my arms dead tired. The other angler was at the launch when I beached my pontoon and we chatted for awhile. Nothing for him as he trolled flies all day. Said that he fishes the lake quite often and always has a tough go of it on the days that the wind comes from the north, but has been catching some fish on other days. Nothing big though.

Not sure when I’ll be back next, but I think that I will hit Lake Alice next week after work and see how that goes. Something new. Oh, the water was very high up and was even higher recently the gentlemen told me.
