4/20/2018 8:55:10 AMGood to hear that the lake is producing once again ,nice report as well, has anyone fished the south end and those spots near the 2 parks and the end of the island , I've had good luck in these areas like what you report talks about , some days are better than others ,ya never know until you set the gear and catch that first fish.

4/20/2018 11:08:30 AMThe Cutthroat that my fishing partner and I have recently caught in the north end of the big lake this early spring have been exceptionally nice size fish. We got one about a week ago that measured 23 1/2 inches but most will run around 14 to 18 inches. We have fished the big lake several times recently, and like you say, some days are better than others. When you hit a day like we had yesterday, it becomes a special treat. For our money, my partner and I feel the north end of the lake is the better producer as opposed to the south end of the lake and the areas that you were questioning. Our favorite area is along where McAleer Creek dumps into the lake. McAleer Creek is an outflow from Lake Balinger. You might want to give that area a try. Another area where we have had good luck in past years at this time of year and have yet to fish this year is across the lake and a little to the south trolling between Champaign Point and Juanita Point. If you fish these areas, be sure to target the 40 to 50 foot depths with your downrigger, sling blade w/UV and we recommend puttng an the Ace Hi Fly Junior (blue splatter #344) to work about 16 inches behind the sling blade. Over the years when we have fished the north end of the lake in these waters, we have found this to be a deadly combination. Good luck and tight lines. .
