Started off on west side. First hour, slow going. Was surrounded by little 2-3" fingerlings. I think they are either trout or salmon. Had little dots on their backs and side. When they jump out of the water, they look all silver though. Water a bit stained in this area

Only spotted 1 bass, a pretty good size LMB. It was just cruising around in 10-12' of water. Came right up to boat side chilling. Then swam away into deeper water.

Moved farther north staying on the west side. Found cleaner water and can see better. Spotted a few beds with 1 fish in each. A couple were decent size SMB. Finally get a bite on a shakeyhead but I got too excited and yanked too quickly. Then I waited too long and by the time I set the hook, the lure was spit out. Couldn't get any more bites from them afterwards. Was tossing shakey, tube, dropshot, swimbait, and a soft jerkbait. Well, at least I got 2 bites now but the skunk gloom was looming.

I decide to cross the lake and hit a few spots on the east side. Searching with a swimbait and I work my way shallower. I couldn't see any beds on this side of the lake. Tested a few docks and nothing. Then I started going out just a bit deeper working a flat. I get a nip on the swimbait but didn't stick. I see a handful of fish come chasing after it. I could tell a couple were SMB, but werent too sure about the others. Looked like trout. Tossed the swimbait back out with nothing. Then tossed out the jerkbait and let it sink for a few seconds, then twitch. BAM! Fish on! OMG, it's a big squaw! LOL. A fish is a fish I guess. I see 2 SMB chasing the squaw as I'm reeling it in. Tossed it back into the water and I see it floating a couple mins later.... I continue working that area since I know there are active fish there. I get another bite and I lose the fish halfway to the boat. Bah. I remove the soft jerkbait and tied on a hard jerkbait since I can work it more efficiently in the "strike zone" that I'm patterning on. 2nd cast and fish on! Just a chunk SMB, about 14". Again, I see a couple bass chasing and what I know think is more squaw. Catch a few more smaller SMB with the jerk.

I had the jerk on a pause and I see something come darting behind it and grab it. See it's a pretty nice crappie. After it slowed down, i started hitting the shallows again. I tossed the jerk into a corner of a boat lift. A couple of jerks and BAM! Solid fish on! Then just slack. WTF. I reel in and see the knot broke between the main and leader. SOB. Lost my favorite jerkbait. All of a sudden I see a big splash near where I broke off. I scoot towards it making tosses with a weightless worm. No bites, but as I get closer, I see a nice LMB holding at the bottom with my jerkbait on the left side of it's face! FFFUUUU. About 2-3#. I see it moving away and i keep tossing things at it until i lost sight of it. Poor guy. So if anyone catches a 2-3# LMB with a LuckyCraft 97 MR on the left side of it's face, let me know. Will have about ~10' of fluoro leader on. You can see part of the lure in the crappie pic. I took a picture of the bass. I dont think that's my lure you see on the left side, but maybe it is. I couldnt tell when I was taking the picture. Looked like I had a bad angle.

So I sit there retying another jerkbait. I hear another large splash a couple of docks down and I can hear BB rattling. I'm confident it's my bass and lure, LOL. So I start hunting it again. First cast into the dock with a fresh jerk and I get fish on! It feels likes a good fish and i see it's a LMB! Oh man! It turns and I only see 1 lure. Bummer. About 2#. Make a 2nd toss and I get another strike! Doesnt feel big. About a 13" SMB.

I continue down this stretch and I get 1 more strike and it feels like a good one too. Pops up and I see it's a pretty nice SMB. 3.08#. Fished for a little bit after that fish but called it quits. Good fish to end the day with.

That sucks. I hate loosing any lure, even a lowly plastic worm. And I hate leaving a hook in a fish. But you ended up having a good day.

Also saw schools of these bluish looking slender profile fish about 4-6" longer. They look weird in the water since they are blue. Almost look like the "hitch" color on the Huddleston. At least with my sunglasses on.

Great report.. I kept wanting to look ahead to see if you re-connected with your jerbait-face wearing fish... but no such luck.
