Went fishing for 3 days on Potholes with my recently retired brother. Saturday and Sunday, the fishing was tough for us (would rate those days a 2) with 2-3 walleye and a couple trout per day, but we finally found good numbers of active walleye on Monday morning in the eastern Dunes between Frenchman and Winchester. We were on the water about 6 AM and landed 18 fish from 14-23" long by 2 PM . We released the largest 2 and the smallest 4. Productive depths ranged from 13-20 feet with chartreuse/orange being the best spinner colors behind the bottom bouncers. Best speed was 1.1-1.2 mph.

Talking to other anglers while we were there, it seemed like the lake has been hit and miss with the NE winds slowing down the walleye bite, but things seem to be picking up. One guy we talked to reported good walleye success on Sunday in Lind Coulee but said the fish were on the small side-around 14", but he got skunked Saturday. Another guy said he did well "deep in the dunes" for walleye on Saturday but not so well on Sunday. The Rainbow we caught on walleye gear were 22-25 inchers- fat and fun fighters, jumping out of the water with a 2 oz bottom bouncer. Over the weekend, the bass tournament fishermen seemed to do well as we saw lots of nice bags of largemouth being weighed in. Lots of crappie were being caught under the MarDon resort docks as well.
