Man what an awesome Father’s Day I had!
My 12 year old decided that she was going to get up early and take me fishing for Father’s Day so she gets up about 7:00, grabs me and the dog and we head out on the lake. She recently got her boaters license so she informed me that she was
going to be the captain today. Fine by me.
She went and parked us on one of my favorite spots and we started casting stick baits and bucktails for muskys and drug a plastic behind the boat for bass.
The bass rod went off what seemed like every couple minutes and by the time she could get her musky lure in and grab the bass pole out of the holder the fish would always be gone. I looked back at the pole one time and I watched it slowly bury with a slow throb. I told her she had a musky on the back rod. She grabbed the pole set the hook and got cutoff clean by the teeth. Told her next time don’t set the hook. You can land them on light line if you baby them and follow them with the boat. I’ve got some monsters like that.
About 10 minutes later I saw a quality musky following my lure. I go Jules, there one hot on my lure . She says that’s a carp. Whatever. Anyway I paused it than gave it another jerk jerk and he drilled it. I could see it wasn’t hooked very well and about 5 seconds later it spit the hooks. Bummer.
At this time my captain decides shes tired of fishing where we were at. We hooked 2 muskys I the last 10 minutes, why would we stay? Whatever, she’s the captain.
She decides to take me down a channel I never fish. I’m pretty sure we’re not going to do very well but she has high hopes.
About 20 minutes into our new spot , she starts to get a bit discouraged only picking up a couple dink smallmouth. I told her you never know when it will happen. Then it happened. I tossed my lure to the edge of a point and a massive musky blew it up. It looked like I rolled an alligator. My net girl is all ready with the net., the fish is right below the boat and the hooks pulled out!!! Nooooooo! We decide to call it a morning because she was wanting to go home and fix me breakfast. Luckiest Dad on Earth! No jumbos landed today but a 100% 5 star morning!!
I got out for a few hours earlier this week and picked up 3 more muskys. I posted pictures of them.

My 19 y/o said he wanted to got out to dinner with me.. I thought, cool!
Somehow I got caught with the check.

Well, any time a teenager wants to be in the same room, I’ll just take it. (-:

Great fish Red. You are on the fish my man. That sounds like a great day. you can't ask for much more. The fish look great but wow that french toast isn't half bad either. I'm sure we will cross paths soon. Good luck out there even though it doesn't look like you need much luck.
