Ive been having really bad luck bank fishing at the boat launch. Water has been up above the cement sidewalk so have been fishing the north end of the launch area. Ive used just about every powerbait except the one color people have said to use lol. I've tried powerbaits in corn scent, garlic scent, nymph scent (never had luck with that one anywhere), regular scent in orange w/glitter, and even a mixture of old power bait I mixed up with some old salmon eggs trying to an attempt to save money reuse old baits. Been three times in last 30 days and skunk every time. Been reeling in a lot of grass & algae though. As grandpa would say, Im probably not holding my mouth right. They are in there, have had people catch fish near me. I need to pick up some chartreuse color powerbait I guess cause that is what I was told they were biting on.

With the weed growth, try fishing a longer leader; like 3' or so. Hopefully, you are not using the pre-tied cheap junk leaders. Good luck and with the HOT weather, I would caution to all to clean those fish ASAP and put them on ice.

When weeds get so bad, I switch from lead to a clear casting bobber that you can fill with water. It will sink slowly and sit on top of whatever weed growth there is on the bottom. Works great at all lakes and is much less prone to hanging up on the bottom. Sportsmans sells them and they are called spinning bobbers.

Make sure to test it out and make sure your baited hook is floating. Otherwise it's just a longer leader laying in the weeds. If using powerbait I only use the eggs and a tiny hook that will float up with a single egg on 4lb line. I only ever use orange or chartreuse eggs. Don't usually resort to bait but if the kids are coming this is a go-to for if they aren't whacking lures and flies.

yeah I was using a size 14 treble with a marble size of PB so that the hook was fully covered
