Had a memorable morning fishing MA10 with Ben Eggelesten. The pictures pretty much tell the story. Ben lost his rookie stripe today for sure.
This is Bens FIRST Chinook!!!!! Just a whisker under 22lbs. Talk about rookie luck. You could fish a lifetime in local Puget Sound waters and not catch one like this. Thought it was probably a native until we got it alongside the boat, couldn't believe it was a hatchery fish. The fish gods were smiling, there is no other way to explain it.
Ben fought it like a pro (the boat driver/net person did a pretty good job too) Definitely took teamwork to put this one in the box.
Apple Tree Cove, outgoing tide, 125 fow and 85 ft on the cable. Red Racer flasher, squid with herring teaser.
P.S. I caught a 4 foot dogfish, thats the way it goes sometimes. LOL
