This report is a little late. I fished with my buddy Glenn for perch again on Long. We again fished near the lily pads by Willow Bay for perch. The catching was once again good but the size left something to be desired. Total catch was 120-130 perch, a couple of smallies, and a nice 13" crappie. We kept about 20 10-12" perch, the rest were just too small. Drop shotting jigs with curly tail grubs worked well and once we had caught a few smaller size fish we used cut bait which worked best of all. Outside edge of the weeds is the place to be.

Not totally sure. But I think I have heard that if you want big perch you need to thin them out, so keep them all for tomato fertilizer or dog food. Well maybe you have debone them for Rover. I think that is why they put tiger musky in Silver and Newman, to thin the perch.

bullpine: There were some well fed ospreys and seagulls that day. And there is actually a limit on how many perch a seagull can eat and still fly away.
