Had a decent day on Saturday catching and releasing 7 pike. 5 dinks and a couple of 30"ers that weighed in at 7 and 8 pounds. The fish were in about 10 feet of water but I had to run the baits down a little to get their attention. There are still some pods of hungry little fellas out there, but I think the bigger fish are filling their bellies on those 12-20"ers, making it harder to get them to hit lures. I did get a hit at the boat from a fish in the 10 pound+ range that I saw follow up from deeper water. She hit a 7" bait but I only had a hook in her for a short time when she came unbuttoned. Water temps were 44-46

You had a better day than I did. I fished all day Fri. and only managed to catch one and have one follow. Did you fish mid lake near Windy Bay or were you fishing the area south of Harrison? I fished both areas around every weed bed I could find and threw everything in my arsenal at them. I wonder if the gill netting by the tribe and the bounty they put on them the last few years is having a big affect on the pike numbers. I have not done very well this fall. Thanks.

Salmonchaser, It is my opinion that the gill netting IS HAVING AN EFFECT, and I'm sure they are more than proud of themselves for that. Sorry, I'm not going to give away where I've been catching fish but if you found some, you're in the right spot. I had to change things up a little. The spots that have been producing fish for me weren't producing for me Saturday. I knew the fish were still in the area but just not getting in contact with the baits that have been doing well lately. I switched up and threw a Storm Swimmin Stick bait that was running about 5-6 feet down rather than the 2-3 feet I have been fishing. Once I got down in the water column a little more, I got hooked up. Unfortunately I had to get home by a certain time so I had to leave right when I got them figured out a little. I think the bigger fish are there, just a little deeper.

Thanks for the info. If the tribe says they are transporting those fish they are gill netting then they aren't transporting many of them. Very few fish survive once they are in a gill net. I've seen other fisheries totally wiped out by them.

Yes your spot is safe with me been there plenty of times plenty of years. The weeds are going away now. The Gill nets are destroying a trophy pike fishery just like the POR used to be in my humble spiny ray opinion. My best this year a 25 /28 and my buddy a 30 lber.
