Launched out of Ft Spokane with a buddy and headed up the Arm. Stopped at both the first and second islands; caught half a dozen or so dinks up to 13 inches, all released. Next we headed to the south end of Porcupine bay, Lapham's, where we joined 10 other boats. It was a mix of people trolling, casting jigs and like us dragging jigs. We picked up three nice eaters up on the rocky hump. The fish are very scattered based on what we did and what we saw the other boats doing. Best depth was 38 FOW. We also tried jigging deeper water on the north end of Lapham's; this resulted in about ten dinks. We could have kept catching and releasing dinks but decided to try and find some bigger fish. We headed back down the Arm and stopped at McCoy's; never had a bite. Back down to the first island and caught a few more dinks. Headed out to Casino flats and picked up a couple more keepers in 50 FOW and then finished the day at Outhouse flats where we also picked up a couple more eaters in 40 FOW.

All fish were caught on jigs with a black head and a 4" pumpkin/chartreuse tail worm being most productive. Final tally was ten 16-21 inch eaters kept and 20 dinks thrown back.

You really moved around. I need to start doing more of that.
What map would help me learn the names of all the areas? I have heard them for years but not sure exactly where they are located. How do I learn them? thanks

I fished out of Ft Spokane on Sunday the 10th. The Packernut got two bites and landed one 16" walleye. I never got a bite all day. Other boats we talked to had similar results. One said he did well the day before. That's my luck when it comes to walleye fishing. "It was on fire yesterday" :)

JohnIrish - I only know the informal names of the places we fish; learned most of them from my cohorts over the last 13 years of fishing Roosevelt.
McCoy's - Store on the shore at the north end of Porcupine Bay
Lapham's - Red house on the hill at the south end of porky
Blue Creek - the flat just north of Lapham's across from the big slide that took out the road to the porky launch
Casino flats - large flat right below Two Rivers casino at the mouth of the Spokane Arm
Outhouse flats - large flat near red buoy about a mile north (on the right side) of the mouth of the Spokane Arm

All of these big flats hold fish at different times of the year. Right now the eyes should be starting to move up the Arm; last weekend not withstanding. The warmer weather next week will hopefully light a fire under the eyes to start that migration to the spawning areas.

April and May normally provide some fantastic fishing on the Arm if you know where to look. With the water level dropping it will become a lot more hazardous to go up the Arm but it will be worth it.

have you tried pnderay yet .. I think it might be time . It appears it is the new Eye fishery.. well as for the numbers I have heard thru the fall and this spring it is getting tremendous there..I been sidestepping going there for years because the numbers were not that great.. I think its time.. and since I live in the panhandle.. license cheap.. travel time cut way down
