My first time ever to fish Silver lake. The lake did not disappoint!

Launched from the WDFW launch on the north end of the lake about 7am. Late start for me, but trout aren't quite as picky as kokanee. I met my brother there and we started fishing. He pretty quickly had got into 2 fish before I was able to get my line in the water. With this being my first time on the lake, it took my a little bit to figure the lake out. I spend most of the first part of the morning covering the lake, looking for fish etc.

Once I got dialed in to what they wanted from me, the fishing picked up significantly. Highlight of the day was a 22 inch 4.2 lb Rainbow I landed. In the end, I was fortunate to have landed the fish. It had at one time broken off someone's gear, barrel swivel still attached to the leader. At some time during the fight, that barrel swivel got stuck in the snap on the bottom of my dodger. That line got tangled in my gear in a way that even if I had tried, I would not have been able to replicate.

I got fish from about 5ft down to about 22 feet down following the bottom contour, and just about every depth in between. Reli Lure Diamond flash spinner and an Olive Woolley Bugger were the 2 lures that worked best for me this day, along with an Elgin Fishing Dodger and a Mack's Lures Double D dodger.

For how far out of the way this lake is, it was pretty busy on the lake. I may have seen 10-12 other boats fishing on the lake.

Video shows the action for the day. I apologize for the audio at first.

In the video, when fighting the large fish, it looks like your lure trailing your dodger is whipping around above waters surface. Lure , never hooked the fish, but the existing leader with barrel swivel was what some how became entangled in your flasher swivel?

Someone had gut hooked the fish at one point and it broke them off at the barrel swivel. Was about 3 feet of line with the swivel attached hanging out its mouth. My line was about 5 feet down when the fish got on my line. Somehow during the fight, the barrel swivel on the broken off line jammed through the snap swivel on the bottom of my dodger. Not sure how it was possible that happened, but it did. When the fish got off my lure, (if you look at the side of the mouth of the fish you can see where my hook ripped out) the other line was still attached to my dodger and I was able to net it. That other swivel was threaded through so good, I had to break the snap of my dodger to get it out. It completely threaded throug.
