A friend asked me to accompany him to Lake Samish for a little Kokanee fishing. We arrived at around 0900 and wet from the rain. By the first 50 yards, I hooked my first fish and lost another before we moved off north lake. Using flashers, double whammy and gulp maggots, I caught 6 Kokanee and lost about 5 more when they threw the hook. My friend caught 3 and lost 1. I attributed hooking more fish to the fact I held my rod while he used the pole holder. It was a good day for fishing once the rain went away. These were my first Kokanee I ever hooked. But I'm ready to stay south and fish for Salmon.
