Got out for a couple hours in Kent to see if there might be an evening bite. Was surprised to not hardly see any fish at all. There were only a few jumpers and a few that stayed below the surface that I could spot. Only saw a couple decent sized jumpers; the rest were jacks.

Fished eggs under a float the entire time and had 2 strikes with one I totally missed setting the hook on and the other that I set the hook and as soon as I did the fish jumped straight out of the water. Before I had a chance to lower the rod tip he shook his head and out come the 2/0 hook.

So, didn't bring home anymore fish but at least I know my home cured eggs are working.

Are you using a sweet are salty cure if you don't mind me asking?

Definitely more of a salty cure...Sulfites seem to be triggering the bites.

Thanks for the report. A couple questions if I may: how long is your leader between the bobber and the hook? How big is the gob of eggs that you put on the hook? Thanks for any help. Been trying to figure out my bobber and egg technique for a while

I'm running about a 3 ft. leader tied on 15lb. PLine Flouroclear. (Co-polymer flourcarbon coated mono).

Egg clusters somewhere around the size of a nickel to a quarter. I don't obsess about it too much...As long as it looks good, will withstand a half a dozen drifts and not too big for the size of hook. I'm currently using 3/0 and 2/0 hooks. Might consider going smaller.

Bobber I'm running is set as a sliding rig and depending on the drift could be set as shallow as a couple feet to upwards of 14 feet in a deeper hole.

Leader length also varies in my rigs...most all are between 3 and 5 feet though...Goodluck!
