That’s a pink salmon, which is closed up there I believe. And if it were a steelhead you’d be poaching because it’s not clipped.
10/2/2019 8:22:58 PM
Yes it's a pink lol
10/3/2019 4:30:36 PM
Poaching never heard that term for fish if I thought it was hatchery but if it is not my mistake were all human
10/3/2019 8:35:34 AM
?? should this guy be fishing if he can't read the regs or know what species he is keeping?
10/3/2019 11:30:35 AM
Who are the natzi police
10/3/2019 11:30:58 AM
What's your issue
10/3/2019 12:23:52 PM
9lbs? Not likely. How did the meat look?
10/3/2019 1:04:44 PM
The meat was buttery white was delicious if ..
10/5/2019 7:54:12 PM
Buttery white isn’t a thing with salmon. That means the fish is past its prime, cat and dog food at best.
If it ain’t chrome, it ain’t going home.
10/5/2019 9:58:10 PM
That sounds stupid dont disrespect what God created all is good
10/6/2019 1:38:10 PM
Hahahahha you sound stupid eating close to spawning pinks dude. Do some research into them. Their immune systems stop working because they don’t have energy for it to function anymore, that’s why the meat turns white. That shit is gross. You should respect Gods creation and let it do its thing when it’s that far along in it spawning phase. Plus broke the law taking that fish.... so who is stupid?
10/6/2019 4:36:21 PM
Dont get your panties in a bunch bro

some people like theirs fried or baked, TEPA56 likes his 4lb. pink poached. This must be a joke or TEPA56 you need some fish ID lessons. I prefer to think you are pulling our leg.
10/4/2019 11:41:55 AM
That is an illegally retained fish. Not cool
10/5/2019 8:58:16 AM
How do you tell it's a hatchery steelhead then ?
10/4/2019 12:18:47 PM
I'm not going to pile on you here because it seems like you might be inexperienced and I am sure we all had a hard time with fish ID at some point.

Just make sure in the future, you are confident in your species identification and understand the regs. Know the difference between a native and a hatchery fish, and what is legal to harvest in the area you are fishing. Know the difference between all the fish you might encounter. Know when certain fish will be in the river as well. There is a lot to learn and consider.

When in doubt, turn it back. Im sure you will learn from this.
10/4/2019 12:40:07 PM
Well said JDP53. More than likely inexperienced. Giving him the benefit of the doubt!
10/5/2019 8:57:41 AM
How do you tell it's a hatchery steelhead ?
10/5/2019 4:09:19 PM

Check out the link. This is a steelhead. Hatchery fish have a clearly clipped adipose fin.

Honestly, if you can’t tell you can just Google it while you are on the river. We have access to so much information with our phones.

Also, there are multiple pages in the WDFW regulations book which helps with fish identification.

One hella ugly steelie! C'mon dude really....
10/5/2019 8:31:25 AM
Nothing went to waste why you guys act like its the end of the world ... question though how to I tell if it's a hatchery steel vs wild ?
10/5/2019 4:08:35 PM
Pinks are closed on the snow/sky so you are breaking the law. That’s why people are getting on you. I wish I could just walk on to any river and keep what ever fish I want (although I would never keep a nasty pink anyways) I but I follow the rules, and so don’t most others... besides the Russians.

Hatchery fish have their adipose fin clipped. If you haven’t figured that out you really should go get a rules book and read through it. Miss identifying a fish happens but a game warden is ever going to buy you don’t know the difference between wild and hatch.
10/5/2019 6:42:53 PM
Two things a pink with that color is good for, crab bait or dog food
10/5/2019 9:58:56 PM
One day you won't catch any fish with that attitude
10/6/2019 8:50:56 AM
And one day your going to get a fat ticket for poaching....
10/6/2019 8:09:19 AM
It’s like shooting a coyote with mange and telling your friends you got a wolf ??
10/6/2019 7:37:06 PM
Its funny because he probably consumed that thing...
10/7/2019 3:54:53 PM
I did lol was good had a little pink hue to it but cooked up white
