By mid winter standards we had a rockstar day on the big lake Wednesday. Put six nice fish in the net, four cutties and two kokanee. Took a couple home and c&r the rest.

Launched at Kenmore and headed south to pick up Patrick at Coulon. Its a bit of a ride to the south end but sure beats the heck out of driving in traffic. BTW if you launch at Kenmore there is a pretty strong current coming down the slough so make sure you boat is securely tied.

Lines in the water about 10 and we had pretty good action until the wind came up about 1 o'clock. Barometer dropped and the bite died. Headed in to Coulon about 3. The wind died and it was a great ride home until the 520 bridge and then bang into a fog bank.

I marked a couple hot spots. Those arent really the hot spots but the area between them is where we found the fish. Fish were caught 18-30 feet on the riggers, speed appx 1.75. Green spinners with nightcrawler about 100 feet back. Water is a little off color so if you have anything in glow it might work better. Fish were a little on the winter skinny side. One was empty and the other had munched a smolt of some kind. Think some kind of smolt imitation like a needle fish might really do the trick. Next time.

Just to share my pain a bit, I also included a pic of this weekends marine weather for the blackmouth opener. Make it stop!!!! Beginning to wonder.

Tight lines
Randy

Thanks for the report, congrats on the fishing! How was the traffic to and from the lake? Was the launch busy? And since I'm not familiar with the Kenmore launch what is the launch fee there? Thanks!

Kenmore launch is perfect for me since I only live about 10 minutes away. Traffic minimal. I was the only rig in the lot. Not a lot of use in the winter, summer is another story. Best of all its a FREE launch. All you need is a Discover Pass. Just a word of caution, if you use this launch DO NOT turn downlake until you are well out into the lake. The channel is fairly well marked but the sand bar does shift. Go slow. Other than that its a great launch.

I have been out there a couple times this month have not had the success you had great job. I'm the Arima with the radome that fishes there pretty regularly my best day this year was 4 on one rod with two of us in the boat the one rod had red label whole herring on it so yes its a good bet they are feeding on small bait fish....
