A weekend of chasing solvers on Riffe ended up being a trout-fest. Whatever we threw and whatever depth it seemed there was a trout to intercept it. Since we were using bait we ended up keeping 15 trout and 3 small salmon, and released two tiny trout that promptly became bald eagle food.

None the less, it was a fun weekend on the water, including lunch breaks on shore to let our dogs run free and play in the water. It didn't long and both Duke and Kenji were retrieving sticks from the lake, pretty fun break!

We caught fish everywhere, by the dam, down lake, along shoreline and in the center. The fishfinder almost never was barren of fish. The lake is a trout factory. One nice 15" rainbow, the rest were cookie cutter 12" fish. Had a couple nice fish on that came off which could have been the elusive silver cohos.

Trolled from 25 to 70 feet deep. two anglers, four rods. Corn and/or shrimp. Trolling at 1.2 to 1.8. Perfect weather both days and the Mossyrock launch wasn't too bad.

Great place to take the kids for some easy catching!

Mike, the wife and I fished Riffe on Monday and had the same experience, one cookie cutter trout after another. I think it's a result of the 400k trout that were planted in April. Up until this trip we were able to get a limit of nice 15 to 19 inch silvers with some effort. The bright side is those trout are growing and should make for some great fishing in the future!

I brought a bunch home and smoked them up, they tasted just fine!

Last week we had to go down to 80-100 to get past the pesky trout and all bookend 16-18 inch salmon...go deeper bud

400k triploids dumped right in front of the dam. Where it used to be ripe with coho, now its ripe with 12" shakers that can't even release your downrigger snap! Two 4 day trips have convinced me this sucks! In two years maybe it will be worth it, but now it sucks!
