Fires have made a mess of fishing in the Okanogan this past month. The large Palmer fire closed off access to several of my favorite lakes for several weeks and Covid has closed access to the tribal lakes so I've have limited opportunity to get out and chase Lahontan Cutties. I decided to hit up a lesser known Lahontan Cutthroat Trout lake shortly after roads opened up in the area. I wasn't disappointed with the quality of the fish and consistency of the bite and landed several fish in the 18-20" class range a few above. They were crushing Maglip 3.0 and Kinchou Minnows trolled at 30' deep. Faster troll speeds seem to work best for these fish.

Nice report. I love that lake, used to be there everyday swimming in the summer growing up, they did not stock until after I moved to the westside. It was spectacular before the water table shifted in the late eighties, still very nice but all the beaches are muddy and goose pooped, used to be nice alkaline rock pebbles. Once you get on the water though still spectacular. Healing water too, if you have any skin ailments.
Great cliffs to jump off on the west side, just watch for rattlesnakes!
