For this week's Monday fishing adventure I went to Alder Lake. It is such a beautiful lake and the fishing was really good. I knew the front was going to be moving in all day so I figured it would get more windy as the day went by and it did. But it was very manageable. I targeted points and coves looking for fish that were in-between the deep and shallows. That is where they were. Once I found em I would grind away doing multiple laps around the cove. The combinations that worked well were Arrow flash dodgers in Lemon Lime and Pink with a NTO Scent Spinner 2.0 (bait) in Kokanee size. The Blue Ice pattern (Blue HyperVis tape with Blue beads) and in the Pink Ice (UV Hot Pink HyperVis with pink beads) caught all the fish! I was fishing at 26 - 30' on the downrigger. Spring has sprung get out on the water! Good luck!

Thanks for sharing your fishing on a kayak! Is it feasible for a paddle kayak to catch cutthroat and/or kokanee without downrigger OR a fish finder? I enjoy paddling and trolling with half to 2 OZ weight. Thx!

Without a fish finder you would be in trouble quick. There are points and rocks that come up. I am sure it could be done but get a fish finder! Even a real basic one would be good enough just to see the changes in the depth. Downriggers you could get away with not having but once you get them you will like them. If you are win a kayak it can be too much depending on the type of kayak. Get out and get some fish!

Nice job! Do you know if the boat ramp is accessible right now? Are the water levels high enough to launch a boat? Thanks!

There were a number of boats that launched while I was there. So I think it would be fine. Enjoy!

What part of the Lake were you fishing at. Never been but would like to try it out. I am also a fan of those Arrow Flashers!!!

So because of the wind I was looking for coves that were out of the wind. I caught fish in front of the swimming area and in the deep area in front of the dam on the way to get to some of the far side coves. When I found fish or got one in a cove I would grind on it doing laps. Points and coves was my strategy. Arrowflash are my go to! Good luck out there!

First time poster. I have never fished Alder so I checked it out Sunday 5/23/21. What a nice ramp. Lots of parking, great dock, restrooms etc. Ramps got a good grade (Us old guys will start puffing a little walking up) but it's not very long. Really looks good. Hope there's fish.
