I saw the weather report for the weekend and decided to take a vacation day and hit the Arm. Jay and I launched at 0700 and headed over to the blue creek area. I caught a nice keeper eye on a blade bait and Jay caught a burbot on a jig. I then had another hit on my blade bait and at first I thought I may have hooked into a carp based on how hard my drag was singing. Once I brought the fish closer to the boat, we could see it was actually a huge walleye. She weighed 11 lbs and was 32 inches long. My largest eye of the year. Once she was released we spent the rest of the morning working our way upriver and ended up catching about 25 eyes total. Jay caught eyes. a burbot, a smallie and a trout. All in all a beautiful fall day on the Arm.

For anyone using a Norisada blade bait: consider replacing the trebles that come on them. I normally do but I was using a new blade bait and hadn't gotten around to replacing the ones on the blade bait I used to catch this hog. Once we got her in the net the front hook snapped. I have had this happen before with really eyes and know better, hence I replace the trebles. Thankfully I got lucky yesterday.

A very nice surprise. Almost 10 years to the day I caught a 9 lber on the Arm, about a half mile away from where I caught this one.

Do you feel your blade is imitating a crawfish or minnow?

A dieing bait fish. As the water gets colder I shorten my jig. Right now I like a more aggressive rip.
