19 degrees when I woke up! Not wanting to endanger myself by launching the boat, I decided to fish from shore. Wearing 3 layers and drinking hot liquids I located a spot that would have sun by 9am. I used a 9' rod and 3oz of lead to reach out to deeper water. Jackpot! I landed 3 fish in the 18"+ range and broke off several more. I kept 3 and released 2 more that were in the same catagory.
Being curious as to what my largest male was eating, I examined the stomach contents. I found several crayfish, a sand crab?, a dragonfly nymph, and 2 small burbot. Interesting no?

Some nice fillets there, smoke or?
Had some great days on the bank at Rosie also. Nice report. Build a fire, line in the water - warm up.

Mtngrizz,
I smoke the salmon and Kokanee that I catch. Rainbows do not have the same oils that salmon have and thus tend to dry out during the smoking process. I fillet up the rainbows and vacuum sealed them. I share them with five families that love to eat fish.

Those are very nice! Love that deep orange color, you know they were eating good. :-)

Hewesfisher,
I was so amazed that this fish was still feeding despite having a gullet full of debris in addition to all of the plankton and phytoplankton that I had to remove during the process.
