Dave and I went with Glenn to the Arm. We hit multiple points and drifted the main channel up by buoy 1. We caught 60+ and cleaned 40 plus one 3.5 lb rainbow I caught.

Apparently my brother and I have a lot to learn about catching walleye. We went on Thursday and got skunked. Caught zip.
Nada. Talked to some friends of yours who gave us some tips and some jigs. Didn't help. Followed them up above bouy 5 and got stuck in the sand in shallow cloudy water. (so did they. We were following them) So a new jet prop later I will be back at it when I can get the new liner for the unit. Came (slowly) back down to Blue creek area and tried bottom bouncers. Same result but talked to some guys who were bottom bouncing 50 to 70 ft water and had caught "their fair share". I am annoyed , not defeated. I will learn to catch those fine eating buggers.

I hit a sandbar up there last year but have no one to blame but myself. No damage just scared the you know what out of me.
Walleymark, thanks for the tip that they really arn't that far yet because I wasted a good bit of time going up there on my last trip, Was thinking maybe the mouth of Hawk Creek?

BONANZAMEL, you met Mike and Shawn. They told me about their misadventure but never mentioned they led someone else into the shallow water. We were up at buoy 5 yesterday but never had a bite. Everything we caught was from buoy 1 downriver. With the water level dropping it is beginning to get dangerous going above buoy 5 if you don't know where the channel is. It's still a few weeks too early to have a bunch of walleyes above Porcupine. March and later will be another story.

I'll be over that way in April for a few days, looking to try my hand at walleye for the first time. Any good resources on how and where to look that time of year and basics on what tackle to use? Thanks!

Shark, jigs with grubs and swimbaits are hard to beat. Anything that looks perch should work. Depending on how low the water level drops, will drive where to go. Back eddies and current seams are areas I target. If the water gets really low you may have to launch at 7 Bays. Check NWS NOAA Hydrological prediction service for Lake Roosevelt water levels.
