I saw the weather report for the weekend and decided to hit Long Lake for a couple of hours. I have apparently been walleye fishing too much and have forgotten how to get a good hook set when using a tube. I only boated one smallie but lost three or four 3 to 4 lb smallies at the boat due to said poor hook sets. Decided to try crappie fishing and picked up three stud crappies off docks. Based on the water temperature they should have been stacked up in shallower water. I caught another eight smallies crappie fishing, go figure. The highlight of the afternoon was watching two Bald eagles who were fighting and whose talons were locked together hit the water at high speed. It sounded like incoming artillery. Thankfully they were both okay.

Nice fish! Seems like the crappie fishing at Long has been off the last few years. You experiencing the same? I used to catch way more in the spring but just can't seem to find them constantly.

Southerner I have been out twice in the last couple of weeks and my total crappie count is 3. I talked with another gentleman as I was loading up my boat and he had been in another spot that should have been hot based on the water temperature and he only caught one so Long is definitely not good right now.
