Always love it when we can fish mid week and though not as long as I'd like, still was a great respite. Bummed the water draw down seems even earlier this year. We gauge by the number of concrete ribs showing at the launch today it was already ten! Soon we won't be able to launch our boat and fishing ends so early for the summer. Grrr.

No bass hogs this trip, but fast fishing. Within one minute we all had a fish. Did the trout troll and picked up rainbows. P boated two very nice trout and kissed them goodbye. We had a hot dog and potato salad lunch about 1:30pm and decided to cast the shorelines as we could tell the bass had starting moving. Water temp 69 and air 62 and 10mph winds until about 2:30pm when we got into an area where the water was nearly flat and it got downright hot and jackets started peeling off. But when we returned to the main lake body to cool down from the heat the wind returned and was welcome. (Normally we're cussing it.)

I had bought a friend a bunch of our favorite crankbaits, and of course I had to have more too. So we all broke out the new lures and caught fish on everyone of them. That always makes it a treat - "paying for those lures with fish". I lost one that I was very hopeful about, and it must have worked as I did hook a fish, but then the lure came off.

We each had lures in a few trees and bushes but successfully retrieved them all. K hooked a broken line on a submerged tree and we retrieved most of the line to get rid of the litter, but we were disappointed there was no lure on the end of the stray line. We find lost lures every year, but no luck today. We all had on a lot more fish that didn't button up so the action was great even though many were peeps.

After four hours we felt pretty zapped so wrapped up with a nice body count of catch and release: P. 29 bass, 5 trout and 3 pumpkinseeds. He did have on a nice bass to the side of the boat but it got off. He swears it was bigger than my largest today. I can't confirm or deny. K. had 24 bass, 1 trout and 5 pumpkinseed. My total was 34 bass, 1 trout and 5 pumpkinseed and I do get to claim the largest bass of the day, but the largest overall fish goes to P. Next time my friend.
