As is the history of Fan Lake, it can be hit or miss. Was overcast with a slight breeze and only a few people at the hand launch site, couple of them fishing. A few kayakers and a guy was launching in an aluminum boat. Nobody seemed to be catch fish including myself. Same spot, same bait, same time, same technique that I used last week. Only thing different really was the weather. Only a couple nibblers and one good bite that I was too slow on. Not even the ducks were out and only saw 1 turtle vs last week when I saw at lest 4 at one time. I believe the storm that was rolling in had them not feeding like normal or they were just hanging out in deeper areas of the lake. The surface water activity was considerable less today too compared to last week. There was still a handful of good rises, but last weekend had 4x as much activity. I was just here to relax and kill some time before going to watch the fireworks in Deer Park. Wrong lake to relax at cause the young campers at Camp Reed were boisterous as usual and a few teenagers were being obnoxiously noisy from paddleboards toward the middle of the lake. I arrived at about 6pm and left at about 8:15pm.

I tried regular green power bait, yellow corn powerbait, a glittery yellow & green swirled powerbait that I found stashed with some other fish stuff at home (still sealed), and tried purple (nymph) powerbait, and even a mixture of the yellow/green & purple.

I keep telling myself I need to come back with my inflatable pontoon and fly fish it.
