A beautiful day should start with fishing, so I got up and drove to the lake. Started fishing at 0605 and had my first fish at 0610. A nice 14" rainbow that hit a green/silver spoon at 25 feet on the downrigger. "Good start" I thought to myself, and lowered the rig back down. At 0620 another fish on, it didn't put up too much of a fight until it got close to the boat. Immediately it began tail-walking and jumping, trying to get away. The fish turned out to be much larger than the first, I would estimate it at 18". I say estimate because after several attempts to net the fish the hook released. It looked like a cutthroat. I kinda had a feeling I was going to loss it just because it came to the boat so quickly that I knew it had more fight left when I saw it's size. Guess I should have let it run out some line to tire it out. I figured what the heck, I'll nab one more and do some bass fishing. But that one more never came. About 0630 the water skiers came out (don't they ever sleep in??) and the fishing just shut right down. No more bites. I headed home at 0930. A side note, there was a bass tourney on the lake. At 7 am about ten bass boats with the yellow Tournament tag on their motors zoomed by, heading to the north end of the lake. Cool.

Oh, I also talked to a guy at the dock who said the bass were hitting good on the south end lily pads area. He caught two 5 pounders the day before.
