I took my and 6 and 8 year old boys to try for the planted coho. We saw several spashes and finning fish, but could not get them to hit spinners or eggs. Then we went over to one of the fishing piers where we discovered the an effective fishing pattern. The boys at that pier were casting small flatfish with just a bit of weight and using a slow retrieve. They had caught five salmon. The fish were pretty dark and didn't look that edible so we called it a day and my boys went to play on the swings. A fun fishery for the kids once you hit on the right method to catch the fish. I wish I had found it before my boys got tried of casting!
