Was lucky enough to slip away for a couple of hours this afternoon and fish the north end of Lake Lenore for some large Lahontan Cutthroat Trout. What I found was suprisingly few fishermen (perhaps a dozen spread out over the lake) and alot more fishing than catching.

In a little over two hours I saw three fish caught and released. One was by a flyfisherman and the other two, I'm fortunate enough to say, were by myself using a 1/4 oz Krocodile spoon. All of the fish ranged from 2 1/2 pds to 5 plus pounds and all were bright (not dark or rosy in their spawning colors as they get in later March and April).

The outside temperature was 45 degrees. The lake was completely ice free and there was little to no wind blowing during the afternoon (a pleasant change from normal this time of year). In short, it's still a little early for consistent fishing at the north and south ends of the lake but it should pick up within the next couple of weeks.
