April 23rd started out nice, but by the time I was at the boat launch it was pouring down rain. I was on the lake by 10:30 and the rain was joined by a nice wind which made trolling almost a contact sport. All in all the fishing was Ok. I landed a few nice 13" - 14" trout and had a couple more to the boat. I forgot my hook sharpener. I was dissapointed in the Tanwax Resort, it was full, so I spent the night on the road next to Lake Ohop and
tried it the next morning to no avail. Tanwax lake is located a few miles south of Northwest Trek on Highway 161. There are other lakes within minutes which include Clear Lake, Ohop Lake, Lake Kapowsin and a couple smaller lakes without launches. There are many Resorts in the area which makes it a nice place for a family vacation. For more information on the area, stop in at Erv's boats on Highway 161 just before you get to Eatonville and say "HI" to Erv, Mark & Dan. They make a very reasonable pontoon boat!
